Before the pros could hit the track, however, it was all about race one as the woman and super seniors took the track to do battle on a newly renovated Primm race course. Utilizing the best of trails that the Buffalo Bills property has to offer, the Shamrocks MC took their pick in creating the one of the best courses to date at the Primm location. Long strait-a-ways with twisting sand turns highlighted much of the 7-mile racecourse, and racer favorite obstacles like the rock pile up-hill and the shamrocks tunnel meant left the riders wanting more and more laps.
Off the bat, it was Tricia Lane and her CRF250 grabbing the Holeshot and holding on through the first half of the loop. Hot in pursuit, and fresh off of her first win of the year in the National Hare and Hound Series, Anna Cody was fully recovered from the broken foot she suffered earlier in the year and charging hard for the lead. Two laps into the race, however, and we would see a new leader in Bill Maxim making the charge from the second line, the 60+ super senior class. Bill would hold onto the win followed by mini class racer Willy Simons Jr. Tricia Lane held on for first overall woman at 3rd overall, and Anna Cody took home the win in the Senior woman’s class.
Up next was the senior class, and perhaps the best race of the weekend. Virtually coming out of nowhere, Randall Moseley showed up and virtually schooled the entire race. With a 20 second margin after loop one; Moseley was turning heads with his pro-style attack of the race course and its spectator friendly jumps. Following behind in second and third, Paul Krause and long time riding buddy Fred Hatch were going back and forth literally in a cat and mouse game. Paul would later explain that it was all fun as the two spend a lot of time practicing with one another, but to the crowd of nearly 300 spectators it was exciting to watch who would come out front on the next lap.
Unfortunately for Moseley, a flat tire on the 4th lap would let Krause by for the lead. Hatch would also make a pass, putting Moseley back into third, but a last lap charge would bump Hatch back a position and Moseley would settle for second. Proving that the race doesn’t end until the checkered flag, Krause held on to take his first of two wins for the weekend.
One race later and Krause was back on the line, this time on board a KTM250F. Lining up on the second row, and in the same race as his son Brandon, Krause was out to prove that he could also hang with the big boys. Unfortunately for Krause, he would have to deal with Ryan Reina before he could come anywhere near the front of the race, and that was a feat in its self that no one was able to accomplish. Leading out of the first time, Reina put on a show for the crowd clearing all of the jumps, and blasting
Round 4 of the GPR Stabilizers Big Six Grand Prix series returned the Primm, Nv and the Buffalo Bills Hotel. Over 1100 entries took to the startline over the course of the weekend, and for the third year in a row, big money was up for grabs in the Tri-State Challenge pro race.
